Manchester City will kick off their quest for a record-breaking fifth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday afternoon as they head to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in their first match of the 2024-25 season.
The two sides face off just 15 days after their preseason clash in the United States, where City claimed a 4-2 victory, highlighted by a hat-trick from last season’s Golden Boot winner, Erling Haaland.
Despite finishing sixth last season and earning a spot in UEFA competition with a strong finish of five straight Premier League wins in May, it wasn’t enough for Mauricio Pochettino to retain his position at Stamford Bridge.
