Tottenham Hotspur will visit Fulham in a London derby on Sunday, fresh off a crucial 3-1 Europa League victory over AZ Alkmaar. Spurs, who secured a quarter-final clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, are likely to focus more on their European campaign, given their mid-table Premier League standing.
Ange Postecoglou’s side sits 13th, 12 points adrift of the top seven and well clear of the relegation zone, making their domestic campaign seem like a write-off. However, they have shown resilience recently, losing just one of their last five league matches and winning their last two away games against Brentford and Ipswich Town.
History is against them, though, as Spurs have lost their last five pre-international break league games, including a 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage last year. Marco Silva’s side also earned a 1-1 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December and has lost just four of their last 18 matches in all competitions.
Fulham, however, are coming off a 2-1 loss to Brighton despite taking the lead through Raul Jimenez. They will be aiming to repeat last year’s home victory over Spurs and strengthen their position in the table.
