Currently sitting second in the La Liga standings, Carlo Ancelotti’s team trails leaders Barcelona by three points, while Villarreal’s strong performance has them in third place, just one point behind Madrid.
Ancelotti will be urging his players to respond positively this weekend, especially after Los Blancos struggled in their recent 1-0 defeat to Lille in the Champions League. The match was decided by Jonathan David’s penalty, awarded after an Eduardo Camavinga handball.
