On Wednesday night, Sparta Prague will host Red Bull Salzburg in the Czech capital for the first encounter of the new Champions League league phase.
Several top-flight matches were postponed over the weekend due to flooding in Central and Eastern Europe, therefore neither team played in the league.
While teams from Czechia (or Czechoslovakia) and Austria will face off in the top division of European competition for the first time in 41 years, the meeting of these two clubs at this stage goes against the notion that UEFA protects the elite, especially in the Champions League.
