Bayern Munich will look to take another step towards reclaiming their Bundesliga crown when they face Union Berlin at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei on Saturday.
Union, sitting 14th with just 26 points, are at risk of being dragged into the relegation battle, while Bayern hold a commanding 61 points, eight ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen despite their 3-2 loss to VfL Bochum on March 8.
Steffen Baumgart’s side managed a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt last Sunday despite conceding first and creating no big chances, marking just their third goal-scoring match in their last seven outings. In fact, they have failed to score in 13 of their 27 matches this season.
Union’s recent form is concerning, with three defeats in their last five games and just three wins in their last 18 across all competitions. Their home struggles are also evident, with just one victory in their previous nine matches at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.
Bayern, meanwhile, suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat against Bochum despite leading 2-0, though Joao Palhinha’s red card in the 43rd minute contributed to their collapse.
However, Thomas Tuchel’s men bounced back in the Champions League with a dominant 2-0 second-leg victory over Bayer Leverkusen, securing a 5-0 aggregate win that may have dented their rivals’ confidence in the title race.
